Hydrogen peroxide is naturally produced by the immune system as part of its first line of defense against foreign organisms. The natural production of hydrogen peroxide also plays a role in the body’s metabolism, contributing to the breakdown of fats, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Interestingly, hydrogen peroxide is present in a mother’s colostrum—the nutrient-rich first milk produced after childbirth.
