Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)
Bacterial Overgrowth of the Small Intestine (SIBO) occurs when bacteria that are normally found inhabiting the large intestine are found in large numbers in the small intestine. Diabetes and Crohn’s disease are often associated with SIBO. Once testing confirms SIBO, we can target and manipulate the flora in the GI tract, specifically the small intestine. Common symptoms associated with SIBO, can be similar to that of IBS:
- Diarrhea and constipation
- Gas
- Bloating
- Abdominal pain
The naturopathic doctors at our Nardella Clinic in Calgary have experience diagnosing and treating SIBO, to help restore a healthy flora through the entire digestive tract. A healthy digestive system helps to support an overall healthier body.
