Diagnosis and Lab Testing

Diagnosing Lyme disease is, unfortunately, often as complex as the disease itself. If you don’t have the rash, but suspect you may have Lyme disease, you will require the assessment of a highly trained and experienced doctor, as well as diagnostic tests. Not all tests are created equal, and not all doctors have the knowledge or experience required to make an accurate diagnosis. Our Naturopathic Doctors experience is that testing for Lyme disease and co-infections requires a variety of testing methods. Chronic infections can cause suppression of immune markers used with common testing methods. As a result of this additional testing beyond the standard ELISA test offered in Canada a patient may require testing that include:

• T-cell testing
• Western Blots
• PCR
